Cold adaptation and the anaesthetic requirement for cyclopropane in rats.

چکیده
The effect of cold adaptation at 4 degrees C on cyclopropane MAC was studied in 10 Wistar rats over a 16-week period. Compared with a similar control group (normally adapted), there was a significant decrease in weight gain and a significant increase in anaesthetic requirement in the cold-adapted rats.

Lack of tolerance to cyclopropane and cross-tolerance to halothane in rats.
Cyclopropane requirement (MAC) in rats was determined before, during, and after repeated exposure to anaesthetic concentrations of cyclopropane and halothane for one hour every day for 20 and 30 days, respectively. MAC values during and after exposure ranged from 93 to 103 per cent (mean = 99 per cent) of control values, which indicates a lack of significant tolerance to cyclopropane or a cross...

Objective(s): To study the effect of acute and repeated stress on cardioprotection-induced by remote ischemic preconditioning (RIPC).Materials and Methods: RIPC was induced by giving 4 short cycles of ischemia and reperfusion, each consisting of five min. The Langendorff’s apparatus was used to perfuse the isolated rat hearts by subjecti...
متن کاملCyclopropane Anæsthesia
TLHIS paper is based on my experience of one thousand cases of cyclopropane anaesthesia personally conducted by me since October, 1938, both in hospital and in private. But before discussing these it might be convenient for me to mention here something about the drug itself. HISTORY. Cyclopropane was first isolated in Germany in 1882 by Freund, who also demonstrated its chemical structure, C 3H...
متن کاملCentral mechanisms of vomiting related to catecholamine response: anaesthetic implication.
VOMITING IN ASSOCIATION with anaesthesia continues to be a major problem. A vomiting centre 1 and a chemoreceptor trigger zone 2 have been identified, but their relationship to the mechanism of anaesthetic-induced vomiting remains to be clarified. ~-~ An adrenergie mechanism is suggested by the observations that some general anaesthetic agents increase circulating catecholamine levels, for exam...
متن کاملInvestigating the Cold Requirement of Autumn Daffodil (Sternbergia lutea) and the Effect of Bulb Size on Its Growth, Development and Flowering
Autumn daffodil (Sternbergia lutea) is one of bulbous plants from Iran that has potential as an ornamental plant. The understanding and control of dormancy and investigation of cold requirement in this plant are critical for its cultivation This research was conducted to investigate the effects of duration of cold and the size of bulb on growth, development and flowering of autumn daffodil. The...
